My Journey of Life
The Power of Art Therapy
People often ask what inspired me to start painting at 58. The truth is, it began during one of the darkest times of my life. After surviving years of abuse that left deep emotional and physical scars, I found myself at a crossroads — to give up or to find a reason to keep going. Art became that reason.
I had never painted before, but the first time I picked up a brush, something changed. I poured my pain onto the canvas, layer by layer. In one painting, I wrote down all the hurtful memories and tears I had held inside for years, then painted over them with colors of peace and hope. That simple act became my turning point — a way to reclaim my life, my voice, and my strength.
Painting has since become my therapy. Each piece I create reminds me that healing is possible, even after unimaginable pain. Through art, I’ve learned that beauty can rise from brokenness — and that creativity can truly save a life.
Please take a moment to remember the disabled and elderly artists who continue to create despite their challenges. For many of us, art isn’t just a hobby — it’s a lifeline. Your kindness, support, and encouragement mean more than you know. 💛
